The story
The narwhal's characteristic tusk has always been shrouded in mystery, and researchers have been in doubt as to what function it actually has? It turns out that, until recently, the narwhal himself had doubts about the same, as it gradually found it primitive to use this impractical and oversized tooth exclusively to impress the females of the pack.
This narwhal therefore decided to go on an inspirational journey south, where it docked in the harbor at San Sebastian. Here it observed how in the local bars fish and squid were impaled with toothpicks, after which they were swallowed in one mouthful. The narwhal took inspiration from this tactic, and soon researchers observed how narwhals from Greenland to Canada began paralyzing their prey with their tusks and then swallowing them whole. The method has, for the same reason, been dubbed 'tusk tapas'.
