This sailor's mackerel is drawn at my dining table - and it is not the first mackerel to have been lying there, by the way. The idea for the design was given to me after a visit to Klitmøller. Here I wondered why there were several hundred mackerel lying on land along the water's edge. I asked one of the locals about the phenomenon.
He said this is because the mackerel is being hunted by full-fledged cod, and in one last desperate escape attempt, simply chooses to jump onto land. If that is true, it may not be many years before the mackerel evolutionarily adapts to the local environment. The first step must therefore be to buy a sweater and top hat. Growing arms and legs must be the next step ⚓
